A 14K piece contains more pure gold than a 10K piece, and therefore has more value. The “K” stands for “karat” and represents the amount of pure gold that the piece contains.

If jewelry was made from 100% pure gold (24K), it would be quite soft which means that it could bend or scratch easily. This is why jewelers always mix pure gold with other metals to create 10K gold, 14K gold and 18K gold. This makes the gold easier to work with and increases its strength. Think of it like a recipe: the higher the karat number, the more pure gold is used in the mix!

For yellow gold, a higher karat usually means a slightly stronger yellow color. However, these differences can be subtle and might be more or less noticeable depending on lighting.

Yes! The chain and the pendant will both be made in whichever metal you choose. For example, if you choose 10K Yellow Gold as your metal, both the chain and the pendant will be in solid 10K Yellow Gold.
